Technique Thursday - Fussy Cutting
*This will be featured in the September 2010 issue of Scrapbook Trends magazine.
I will confess. I am not a super complicated techniquey type of scrapper. I'm not saying I don't like various fancy techniques, I've just never taken the time to learn many. My "numbers" brain generally likes my projects orderly and clean lined - but my goal is to start challenging myself to try new things, get a little shabby, get a little messy, maybe even make things a little crooked.

Since I have the floor today, I thought I'd go ahead and share a couple other projects I made for October. The Tall Kid layout is also from the Alphabet Soup kit and Friendly Pumpkins is from the October Boo To You kit. With both kits I still have a ton of product left even after making quite a few projects.

One of my favorite techniques (you will see this on a lot of my projects) is fussy cutting. When picking out paper at the store, I always seem to grab those papers or lines that have prints/pictures on them, which are perfect for cutting out. I'll often add a pop dot or two behind to give some dimension or add a little bling or glitter for some sparkle. My favorite scissors when fussy cutting are the Cutterbees (yellow handle with black blades - adhesive won't stick to them).
Here is a teacher card and gift bag I made using the October Alphabet Soup kit. As you can see I cut out the little school houses and added pop dots behind them.

And here is another peek at the November main kit featuring Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg. This was a quick and easy card I made after finishing up a layout. Don't forget to sign up for the Boo To You Kit giveaway here. The drawing is on Friday.

Team Member: Sarah de Guzman
Hi everyone! Today, I get to write about ME.

So... what shall I share with ya'll today?! How about a questionnaire?
Name: Sarah de Guzman
Location: bay area, California
Likes: scrapbooking, papercrafts, basically all crafts that allow me to make a mess
Dislikes: birds and mean people
Favorite Scrapbook Brand: I really can't pick just ONE favorite. I LOVE a lot of lines out there right now. Mostly, however, I like the bright colors... so stuff like Sassafrass Lass, My Little Shoebox, Collage Press, Bo Bunny, Bella Blvd.,etc.
Favorite Scrapbook Supply: Paper and adhesive because they are the backbone to a project, don't you think? ;)
Focus of your scrapbooking projects: I would have to say my dogs. I don't have kids to scrap, so I'm usually taking pictures of my family and friends, and of course, my two little furbabies. They make my layouts look good. hahaha.
Where to contact me: At my blog... http://redoaklines.com
Other: I'm still so excited that I'm part of this awesome design team. It is really an honor that I get to work with such amazing and talented gals.
Oh, and make sure to comment in the previous post to be entered into the drawing!
Hugs,
sarah.

Fab-BOO-lous Friday!
Yeah, it's Friday...I've been unpacking and putting together the November kit. I released a clue on FB yesterday and here's another clue for the add on kit:

Here is another layout using the October add on kit featuring Pink Paislee. I did use a couple of extra items not included in the kit. The spider was covered in Black Stickles to give it a little more pop. Also, the tag is stamped using Technique Tuesday stamps from Ali Edwards and the Main Street mini alphabets. Everything else was included in the kit.

Have a Fab-Boo-lous Friday and weekend!
