Thursday......................
I had so much fun with the mistletoe and more kit!
I loved christmas themed papers, they werent "too"
christmassy,,,, if you know what I mean.
so completed three layouts and a cute little gift box too.
one layout is from julie bonners sketch here.. and the other two are from my head(a very scary place indeed!) and the gift box , welll that little bit of eye candy was inspired by the papers themselves. I made those little paper roses from the papers in the kit too,,,,I hope you like them!
does anyone have new years traditions??? it is a tradition in our family to eat black eyed peas and collard green for new years day,,,, the beans represent all the money you with make in the new year , and the collard greens represent the growth of a new crop.

Whatever Wednesday - Mini Album
Here is a Christmas mini album/journal that I made with December's Mistletoe and More kit. I thought this would be perfect for jotting all of the stories, gift ideas, pictures etc. that happen during the crazy month of December. It is always a flurry of activity and then after it's over, I can't remember most of what happened!
Just a reminder that there is a drawing for some Jenni Bowlin products on the previous post. Anyone doing anything exciting for New Years? My husband is in a band and is playing on New Year's Eve, but I'm staying home with the kidlets. I'm just not that wild and crazy anymore!

Team Member Tuesday!
'Tis the season to be running around like a crazy person - shopping, wrapping, baking, packing, the list goes on and on! Here is a quick post sharing a couple quick cards using December's Mistletoe and More kit. On the first card I layered different pieces of Bazzill (pop dotting some for dimension), used some Elle's Studio paper and sentiment and a piece of paper from the Jenni Bowlin mini album. On the second card I cut a small piece from the large scalloped Pink Paislee paper and added one of the die cuts to make my sentiment.
Don't forget about the Elle's Studio giveway on yesterday's post. I hope that everyone has happy and safe holiday!

Fab Friday!
Yeah it's Friday and though I've been fighting a cold all week and one of the twinkies woke up at 5:07am, it's totally going to be a Fab day! Yesterday, Sarah talked about scrapbooking on a budget. We all love those FAB tips she gave us.
When I run into people the biggest complaint I hear about scrapbooking is the lack of time to work on our passion and craft. I have never been the fastest scrapbooker, but here's my layout inspiration for today and a breakdown of how long it took to create:
7:00-7:08 print and trim pictures
7:10-7:15 kiss hubby goodbye for the day and get crayons/coloring book for Hailey (Hunter still sleeping...sshh!)
7:16-7:18 look for paint and paint brush
7:18-7:20 paint brown onto cardstock
7:20-7:30 place pictures on cardstock, grab Pink Paislee Alphas out of car (don't ask why
they were in the car!), convince Hailey that 2 pictures on her layout are cuter than the 3 used for Hunter
they were in the car!), convince Hailey that 2 pictures on her layout are cuter than the 3 used for Hunter
7:31-7:32 place title down on cardstock
7:33-7:35 pick out glitter letter for Hailey's layout...she didn't have any on her's...no fair!
7:36-7:38 finish up title
7:39-7:45 cut strips of coordinating paper for accents, pop up circle punchout from kit.
7:46-7:52 glue down paper for star. Sand and paint edges. Add another star to
Hailey's layout
Hailey's layout
7:5 -7:55 finish gluing down embellishments, cut edge of Jenni Bowlin paper and adhere
7:55-8:00 take picture for blog post
8:00-8:15 mini meltdown from Hailey - she hit her head on my scrapbook table
...writing blog post.
...writing blog post.
8:16am DONE loading pic to blog post
8:17-8:26 Hunter woke up...finish loading pic to blog post...Now I'm done!
Like I said, I'm not the fastest scrapbooker, but having some time with my daughter this morning has been super fun...Now if Hunter would have been up, well either add an hour or rather, there might not have been a blogpost today.
Have a FAB FRIDAY! Mimi

Happy Thursday!
Hi to all you "scrappy" fans!
Hope your holiday season is going great so far! Are any of you done with your Christmas shopping?! ;) Okay, okay... Just kidding! I just had to ask for fun.
Anyway, I thought I would share a couple of tips for the scrapbooker on a budget. Let's face it - our hobby can get pretty darn expensive. For instance, punches all seem to range over $10 each. ...so instead of using punches, look around you. Shapes are among us!
To create a circle, trace around:
-top of a pot
-bottom of a canned good
-a glass bottom
To create a square/rectangle, trace around:
-envelopes
-boxes
To create odd shaped pictures, trace around:
-cookie cutters
-templates
What other items can you think of tracing around?
...and I wanted to share a couple of layouts I created using this month's kit. If you haven't, make sure to pick one up. You can do so much with this one kit!
Happy Thursday!
Hugs,
sarah.

Whatever Wednesday!
Happy Wednesday everyone! There are officially 8 more shopping days left before Christmas! Well guess who hasn't even started? Luckily for me, my DH came home one day and said he bought his gifts...I didn't even have to wrap them. Gotta' love men who love to shop.
I am ashamed to say I haven't even started on my holiday cards either, so I thought I'd better get started. Here are a couple of cards I made. I really like the oversized cards even though they require a little more postage. Glad I'm scrapbooking with some gal pals this weekend to finish up the rest.
I used the Elle's studio collection for these cards plus I used a couple of items from Maya Road (scroll coaster album) and the back side of Dew Drop Inn from October Afternoon's Road Map collection. Base of card is from Jillibean Soup kraft cards/envelopes.The larger pink snowflakes were cut out from the Sihlouette and Happy Holiday are rub-ons.
I'll be back for Fab Friday...until then, Happy Scrappin'...Mimi

Manufacturer Monday: Basic Grey
I am highlighting another of my favorites this week - Basic Grey. Here are some projects I made recently with June Bug and Lime Rickey products which can be found in That Scrappy Girl's store. Basic Grey is always coming out with something new. I love their felt woolies and am always a fan of their cardstock sticker sheets. They also have different card kits where you create a variety of cards in a short amount of time and cheaper than you would buy individually in the store.
Is everyone ready for the holidays? I still have a few gifts to buy, but the weather here is once again yucky (this time ice) so looks like I'll be procrastinating a few more days!

Fab Friday!
I'm not sure if it's "fab" here in the Midwest. The news is saying we had around 15 inches of snow, the wind chill is below zero and schools have been closed for days. On an up note, I never lost electricity and I got to sleep in! Today the kidlets are back at school and I really need to buckle down and get my Christmas decorating and shopping done. But instead I'm thinking about hanging out in my scrap room today :-) Here is a quick and easy card I made using this month's December kit.

Winter Wonderland Wednesday!
Hi everybody, it's me Mimi. I live in Des Moines, IA and if you haven't seen The Weather Channel, or read Yahoo.com today, well, we made the headlines. So far we have had 15" of snow and it's still coming down. And shhh! we're still in our pj's.
Now that we are getting closer to Christmas about all I have to bribe my children with is the thought that good ole' St. Nick will soon be here. They have a great understanding, thanks to Dora's Christmas special of the Nice and Naughty list...and frankly the threat of the Naughty List was the only way I could get them to take a nap today. So in keeping with that spirit, here is my take of the concept.

...stay warm today; hopefully we'll be able to dig ourselves out tomorrow...Mimi

Fab Friday!
It is in the 20's here in Iowa today...a shock from the 60's we had just a few days ago. So I had a hard time getting out from under the covers this morning, but here I am with this week's Fab Friday. Using the December kit here is my take on Julie's Fab December sketch. I made a card and remember you can make any type of project to compete in the monthly sketch challenge - layout, card, home decor...anything goes! We would love to see what you can do. See this recent post for all of the information and remember it is due January 5th.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Technique Thursday - Glitter!
Another one of my favorite (and easy) techniques is to use glitter to emphasis patterns on paper. I used a glue pen to trace the snowflake pattern, sprinkled some glitter.... super easy! On this mitten ornament in addition to tracing the snowflakes I also added lines of glitter to the cuff of the mitten. If there isn't a pattern on the paper, you can always create your own. I then attached the papers to the chipboard mitten found in the December kit. Repunch the hole using a paper punch or Cropodile and you are ready to hang this on your tree.
Tips when using Glitter:
- When using a glue pen, do a small area at a time, so the glue doesn't dry out too quickly.
- You can also use a glue pen to apply glitter to flowers, stickers or anything else needing a little sparkle.
- When doing a large area such as a chipboard piece, I often use Modge Podge. You can also rub a glue pad over the surface or use a spray adhesive or other liquid glue.
- Use a tray or small, flexible paper plate, so that you can easily put it back into the bottle.
- There are different sizes of glitter - the glitter I used was very fine. If you have a chunky glitter, you would want to use on a much larger, less detailed project.
- Baby wipes are a great way to clean the tray or help to get the glitter off your hands. They also help with static cling.
- Use a small paint brush, Q tip or eyeshadow applicator to brush away excess glitter.
- Be prepared - you will probably be a little shimmery for awhile! Whenever I go to a crop on Saturday, I always seem to be a little sparkly at church on Sunday :-)
- If anyone else has any other tips feel free to share!
A couple other non glitter related tips on this project. I used the left over foam dots packaging to add dimension to my cuff. Never throw it away - it is great to use on larger pieces of paper for dimension. I used a border punch for the cuff, but you could easily draw a scalloped cuff and cut out with scissors.

It's Whatever Wednesday!
Happy Hump day everyone! Today I'm bringing you a 12" x 12" layout using the collection featured in this month's kit: Mistletoe and More. Now that the twinkies are getting older they are less and less cooperative with the camera. This photo was actually taken by our accountant. Well, at least Christmas cards went out...one of the embellishments I used I made myself.
The oragami tree was made by 4 pieces of paper...sizes are 1.5" x 1.5", 2" x 2", 2.5" x 2.5" and 3" x 3" the stick is from the yard.
